Cookies Policy.

What cookies and similar technologies Egen Active uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

Effective 20 April 2026 · Last revised 20 April 2026

1. About this policy

This Cookies Policy explains how Elitesgen Academy ("Elitesgen", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies on Egen Active ("the Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more broadly.

By continuing to use the Service, you consent to our use of cookies as described below. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the controls described in Section 6.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies let a site remember information between visits, such as whether you are signed in, your preferences, or the page you came from. Modern sites also use related technologies, including localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixel tags, that work similarly. In this Policy, we use "cookies" to cover all of them.

Cookies set by egenactive.com (or an Egen Active subdomain) are "first-party" cookies. Cookies set by services embedded in our pages (analytics, maps, email) are "third-party" cookies.

3. How we categorise the cookies we use

We group cookies by the job they do, not the vendor that sets them:

  • Strictly necessary: required for the Service to work. You cannot opt out; without these the site will not function.
  • Functionality: remember your choices and make the experience work well. Blocking these does not break the Service but may degrade it.
  • Analytics: let us understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve it.
  • Marketing: measure the performance of campaigns, ads, or referral links. We do not currently run advertising cookies.

4. Cookies we currently use

Strictly necessary

  • `site_type` (first-party, session): set by our routing layer when you land on an Egen Active subdomain so the correct site is served. Cleared when you close the browser.
  • `__Host-next_session` and related Next.js request cookies (first-party, session): issued by the web framework for request routing and CSRF protection.
  • Payment processor cookies (third-party, session): set by licensed Nigerian payment providers during checkout to complete the transaction securely. See their policies for detail.

Functionality

  • `cookie_consent` (first-party, persistent, 12 months): remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again on every visit.
  • `theme` (first-party, persistent, 12 months): remembers your colour scheme preference if you override the system default.

Analytics

  • Vercel Web Analytics (first-party, cookieless): collects aggregate, anonymised page-view metrics using a hashed daily identifier. It does not set a cookie or track you across sessions.
  • PostHog (first-party, via /ingest/* proxy, persistent): `ph_<id>_posthog` and related cookies plus localStorage keys record anonymous interaction events (clicks, scroll depth, session duration) so we can measure feature adoption and debug issues. PostHog is configured to strip IP addresses and never collect form input values.

Map and content

  • Protomaps (third-party, cache): our /facilities map uses map tiles served from Protomaps; tile requests may set short-lived cache cookies.
  • Sanity CMS preview (first-party, short-lived): set only when an authorised editor activates Draft Mode to preview unpublished content. Ordinary visitors never encounter this cookie.

5. Third-party services

We intentionally keep the list of third parties short. The ones that may set cookies on your device when you use Egen Active are:

  • Vercel (hosting and analytics): vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • PostHog (product analytics): posthog.com/privacy
  • Protomaps (map tiles): protomaps.com
  • Our payment processors at checkout: disclosed in the payment flow.

We do not embed advertising networks, social media pixels, or cross-site tracking tags.

6. Your choices

Browser settings: most browsers let you view, restrict, or delete cookies. Consult your browser’s help pages for instructions. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Service from functioning.

Consent banner: where required by law, we show a consent banner on first visit. You can change your choice later by clicking “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Do Not Track: browsers that send a "Do Not Track" signal are respected for analytics cookies. We continue to set strictly necessary cookies because they are required for the Service to work.

Mobile app controls: for the Egen Active mobile apps, use your device settings to reset the advertising identifier or clear app data. Our in-app privacy screen lets you opt out of analytics.

7. How long cookies stay

Session cookies live only until you close the tab or browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period (typically 30 days for analytics, 12 months for preferences) unless you clear them sooner.

We review this list periodically. When we add, remove, or change the cookies we use, we update this page with the new effective date.

8. Children

Egen Active is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly set cookies on the devices of children, and we do not build profiles on minors. If you believe a child has created an account, contact privacy@egenactive.com and we will investigate.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy to reflect changes in our use of cookies, in the services we rely on, or in the law. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, by email, or with a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
